Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes: Embracing Change & Coping with Chaos (#TheSundayPost)

So much has happened over the last couple of months, I hardly know where to start! There is a lot of change going on, but thankfully it’s the good kind of change for once.

To say this year has been tough so far would be an understatement. We lost my mum back in January and since then I’ve just been on autopilot, putting out fires in each area of my life and doing my best to keep some semblance of normality.
I’ve not kept up with my usual updates for a few weeks due to being busy and under the weather, so I thought I’d check in before unplugging over the festive period. Our Christmas plans are a little up in the air at the moment due to family illness, but we will try to make the best of things.
I had a fun night out with a couple of friends to an “evening of Burlesque”! I’d never been to anything like that before, but it was fascinating. It’s such a beautiful, empowering artform that celebrates women of all shapes and sizes.
I was working from home on Monday and Tuesday so that I could look after my daughter, as no one else was trained to use her new insulin pump. On Monday evening, we carved and painted our pumpkins. I was quite proud of mine this year.
It’s been a busy but fun week. I’ve been off work and I’m finally feeling better after the flu wiped me out. I spent the first few days at home catching up with chores, reading and watching films with my family. Then I got my hair cut and coloured on Tuesday, which has made me feel human again.
I’m still recovering from what I assume was the flu. It started off as a regular head cold with a productive cough. I seemed to get better for a few days before suddenly coming down with a high temperature, shivering, dizziness and aches and pains all over.
Apart from developing a rotten cold that has zapped most of my energy, it’s not been a bad week. I’ve been enjoying my new Literacy groups at work and getting quite a lot ticked off my “to do” list.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks since returning to work. I’ve had training days, new classes to meet and test, medical appointments for my daughter, choir practice and my first ever writing workshop at Boston Book Fest. There’s been a lot of rushing around and not much “me time”.
We spent bank holiday weekend at Kew Gardens in Southwest London. It was a long journey to get there (about 4 hours) but we had a lovely time. We stayed at Warren House, a beautiful 1865 Victorian hotel.
