Letter “V” is for Virtual Visits. Although tourist attractions are currently closed to the public, many museums and galleries are offering free online experiences so that you can visit them virtually from the comfort of your sofa! These events are a fantastic way for all the family to learn new things and stave off lockdown boredom. Below is a list of all the virtual tourist attractions I’ve come across online so far.
Letter “U” is for Unusual Activities. “U” is always quite a tricky letter, and it took me a while to settle on a topic. I finally decided to compile a list of any unusual family activities I could think of that I haven’t already covered in previous posts. So if you’re bored and looking for something a little different to do with your spare time, try one of these fun activities.
Letter “T” is for TV and Theatre. I’m incredibly grateful for all the entertainment available during the lockdown. There are so many great TV shows and films to watch across various platforms and even lots of plays and musicals available to stream online for free. When are we going to have so much time to binge-watch our favourite shows again? Below are my recommendations to add to your watch list.
Letter “S” is for Sensory Play. Sensory play is any kind of activity that stimulates the 5 senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. It’s fun for kids of all ages and helps to develop knowledge of colours, textures, descriptive language and basic science principles. It can also be very relaxing for grown-ups or children who feel anxious or overwhelmed.
Letter “R” is for Reading, one of my favourite things to do! Books are a wonderful way of escaping from our worries and disappearing into the realms of imagination.
Below are some great offers and resources to keep your bookshelf furnished, your mind active and your kids entertained.
Letter “Q” is for Quizzes. I’ve always loved quizzes, puzzles and riddles and I’ve seen a lot of them about during lockdown. They’re good for keeping our brains active and challenging us to recall information from our long time memory. They’re also good fun to play with friends and can help to distract us from our worries. Below are some links and resources for quiz fans.
Letter “P” is for Pampering. If you’re anything like me, you haven’t worn makeup in weeks, your eyebrows are like fuzzy caterpillars and there seems to be something nesting in your hair. And who cares? We are living through a global pandemic. There is absolutely no obligation to look pretty!
