The Latest in my Life 🌤️
Apart from developing a rotten cold that has zapped most of my energy, it’s not been a bad week. I’ve been enjoying my new Literacy groups at work and getting quite a lot ticked off my “to do” list. It’s starting to get cold here in the UK, so I’ve bought myself a few snuggly cardigans and am ready to embrace the “pumpkin spice” vibe.
Today, despite wanting to bury myself under the duvet, I’m busy packing because I’m going to be house-sitting for my sister and brother-in-law for a week. My daughter and I are looking forward to our little adventure away from home and looking after their adorable cat, Winston.
Writing✍️
I’ve been planning a few short stories for anthology calls recently. I enjoy dabbling in gothic romance and horror at this time of this year. Hopefully, I’ll have some sneak peeks to share soon.
I keep toying with the idea of signing up for NaNoWriMo, but for the last few years I’ve not managed to stick with it and then I get frustrated with myself for not meeting my goals. I will probably not commit to it this year, but I’ll still hang out in the forums and try to write a little more than I normally would.
Blogging
I finally caught up with replying to comments and visiting people back this week! I’ve also managed to schedule a couple of posts in advance, which almost never happens these days.
Reading 📖
I mostly read children’s books to my daughter this week. I recently got her a library card and she’s been taking out 3 middle grade books every couple of weeks. They are all fun, fantasy stories like I used to read as a kid. Do I count these quick reads towards my Goodreads challenge? Yes, yes I do.

Watching and Listening 📺
- I watched Haunted Mansion with my daughter the other night and she was simultaneously terrified and fascinated. I remember seeing it in the cinema when I was 11 and finding it absolutely hilarious. It’s a decent family film, but not as funny as I remembered.
- The only other thing I’ve watched this week is The Great British Bake Off . My six-year-old is becoming a fan and tries to stay up later and later to watch it. Not many of the contestants stand out to be this year, so I’m hoping the bakers will get more adventurous as it goes on.
Singing 🎵
We had a great choir practice on Wednesday and we ran through our Christmas medley for the first time. Next week, we have our last rehearsal before our heritage day gig at The Beonna on Saturday 8th. I know most of the songs off-by-heart now and just need to practise a couple so I can sing without looking down at the words all the time.
Quote of the Week 💬

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer.
“It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.”

The Sunday Salon is a weekly meme hosted by Deb @ Readerbuzz.
“Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one’s earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book.”

How was your week? Have you watched, read or listened to anything interesting this week? Let me know in the comments!
I never read middle grade books, but my sister picked an award winner for our Buddy Read this month and so I read When You Trap A Tiger by Tae Keller. I highly recommend it – it’s about a Korean family so there’s some exposure to a different culture, a magical tiger, and a little girl (maybe 12 or 13) who’s trying to help her Grandma. I loved it and my review is here if you’re interested. http://www.bookshelfjourneys.com/post/when-you-trap-a-tiger-book-review Happy Reading

Thank you, Terrie. That sounds like something my daughter would enjoy.
I hope you’re feeling better soon! I love that your daughter wants to watch The Great British Bake Off with you. Maybe one day she’ll be a great baker.
I hope you have a great week!
I’m feeling much better now, thanks. It’s nice that she’s old enough to share some of my interests now. I hope she’s better at baking than me, though. I am a disaster in the kitchen.
Hello! I like your blog and want to follow. I’ll be happy if you want to follow me too. 🙂
this is my blog; Mor Düşler Kitaplığı
Thank you! I will definitely check it out.
Hope you feel better soon!
I got sucked into GBBO during lockdown and have watched ridiculous amounts of it over the last two years. Haven’t baked a single thing in all that time, but have probably consumed far more cake. My money’s on Janusz or Syabira to win but I do like Sandro and Maxy 🙂
Thanks. I like Janusz too. It’s such an addictive show. I’m sadly not blessed with any culinary talent but I get very invested in GBBO too.
I’m in pumpkin spice mode too. 🙂 And ooh your housekeeping adventure sounds like fun! I love the quote too- that about sums it up!
Hope you have a nice week this week.
It was great fun house-sitting thanks. It’s just nice to have a change of scenery sometimes.
The change in seasons always brings head colds. Hope you feel better soon and enjoy your cat sitting gig.
Thank you. It was fun.
