The Latest in my Life

I returned to work on Monday, and boy was it a shock to the system! After staying up until 3 am and waking up at 10 am most days, I was not quite prepared for the 6:30 am start. But I powered through on coffee and leftover mince pies. My daughter didn’t go back to school until Tuesday, so she spent a day at work with me, colouring and playing with lego.

This weekend, we finally took the decorations down and put them back into the loft. It’s one of my most-hated chores and normally I feel miserable when they come down, but it’s actually refreshing to see the house looking so clean and tidy.

Writing

Nothing to report this week, but I did set my writing goals for the year, so that’s something. I have a Zoom meeting with my local writers group on Thursday, which I’m looking forward to.

Reading

I’m currently reading The Maelstrom by Matthew Barnes. It’s deliciously creepy and fascinating.

Watching

  • The Apprentice has just returned and it’s as hilarious as ever. Where they find these people I do not know.
  • I’m enjoying the new series of Call the Midwife, which is perfect cozy Sunday night viewing.
  • I’ve been binge-watching my box set of Jonathan Creek, one of my favourite murder mystery shows. Very entertaining and nostalgic.
  • We watched Encanto on Disney+ yesterday and I loved it. It’s so colourful and vibrant with lots of catchy songs and a heart-warming story.

  1. I just took some vacations too, and boy am I lucky not working mornings 😅 i’m the evening-shift staff, so coming back for 1pm is pretty cool when you can still sleep until 10am ahah.
What I like the most about removing the decorations, is how much room you get back! I’d say our house is pretty medium-sized, but the tree is placed somewhere im usually used to cut through 🤣 the amount of time I almost fell in it, ahah!

    Have a good week! Xx

    • That sounds like a great work schedule. I am definitely not a morning person. Ha ha, yes Christmas trees always take so much space. It now looks empty where mine used to be and I feel the urge to fill the space with a plant or something.

  2. That sounds like an adjustment. 😉
I’m the same with cleaning up the decorations.. This year I even did it a bit earlier than usual because I just thought it was to messy in the house.
Have a great week and happy reading.

  3. I also took down decorations with my family this week. I will also be returning to 6AM mornings soon (I’m a college student going back to school next week! aah!) and anticipate that being an adjustment. Hope that your week has gone well 🙂
