The Latest in my Life

Happy Valentines Day! We don’t tend to bother with cards and gifts these days, but we’re getting a takeaway from our favourite Thai restaurant later and will watch a film together. My daughter did make me a cute card with a dinosaur on the front.

We enjoyed playing in the snow this week. We had a great snowball fight one night and my daughter and husband made a couple of snowmen.

I had a calm and productive week at work and on Friday we broke up for half term, so I now get to enjoy a whole week off with my family.

Blogging

This week on the blog:

Reading

ronja

I read Park People by Jennifer Rees-Larcombe to my daughter, which was okay but not really my cup of tea.

We’re now about half way through Ronja the Robber’s Daughter by Astrid Lindgren and both thoroughly enjoying it. The story takes me right back to the carefree feeling of playing in the woods as a child. We fell in love with the anime TV show on Amazon Prime and I knew I had to read it as soon as I could. So far, the TV adaptation seems very faithful to the book and it’s fun doing the voices of the whole robber clan.

Watching

I’m working my way through season 5 of House M.D and I’m still enjoying WandaVision and Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Yesterday, I rewatched Fox’s Anastasia, which was one of the first films I ever saw in he cinema (just after Toy Story, I think). It’s just as good as some of the 90s era Disney films, in my opinion, and the score is fantastic.

Listening to

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I’m listening to a few of my favourite love songs, from the romantic classics to the cheesy, feel good tunes.

Quote of the Week

I must undertake to love myself and to respect myself as though my very life depends upon self-love and self-respect.

  1. Mmm Thai takeaway yum! I gave little gifts to the kids and the hubs. Today in Chicagoland we are supposed to be getting more snow –so I’m glad to stay home in the PJs . Have a great week!

  2. Sounds like you had a good week and a good Valentine’s Day. We were going to order takeout, but there was a two and a half hour wait at the restaurant we called so we decided to have takeout later this week.
Hope your day is productive and your evening pleasant.

  3. Hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! Takeaway is the best. 🙂 And snow! We have a ton of it too. Is that a pond in that first picture? Looks cool!

  4. We had a low-key Valentine’s Day too. The high temperature for the day was -13 F, so I didn’t even order food. I didn’t want to make someone drive way out here when it’s that cold. I hope you’re having a good week!

Takeaway thai… (fond memories coming up !)… I’m so behind on Star Trek, I didn’t even know Lower decks existed, I’ll check that. Low-key Valentine’s day is good, especially in this particular period of time, I’m glad your daughter enjoyed the snow so much. Have a great week-end !

    • Lower Decks is a cartoon comedy series very unlike any other Star Trek. It’s more like Family Guy in a space setting. I like it, but it’s not the same as classic Trek.

  6. Your daughter looks so cute, thank you for sharing this picture with us. Don´t know when I enjoyed Ronja by Astrid Lindgren the last time but it is always a good choice during bad times. Happy reading and stay safe.
