The Latest in my Life

I’ve felt quite tired and drained for most of this week and have been suffering from bad toothache which has made me crankier than usual. So, I spent most of yesterday relaxing on the sofa with my daughter and our kitten, which is just what I needed.

My husband treated us to a takeaway from our favourite chippy last night and then I enjoyed doing the Jay’s Virtual Pub Quiz with my sister and brother-in-law (we’ve played most weeks since the beginning of the first lockdown last spring).

I had a little more energy today so I decided to bite the bullet and give the house a good clean from top to bottom. I’m not a fan of house work, but I enjoy the end result of having everything fresh, sparkling and organised. My mum-in-law was kind enough to cook us a roast dinner and bring it round for us to reheat, so that was one less thing to do.

Now I’m about to watch a couple of episodes of House M.D and get a good night’s sleep before another week of multi-tasking begins.

Blogging

I did another Stacking the Shelves post yesterday featuring some fantasy books that I bought with various book vouchers recently.

Reading

The Faraway Collection

I finished reading all the short stories in The Faraway Collection earlier this week. They were all pretty dark and interesting. My favourites were “The Princess Game” by Soman Chainani and “The Wickeds” by Gayle Forman.

I also finished More Wishing Chair Stories by Enid Blyton with my daughter and we’ve now started to read Roald Dahl’s The BFG. She’s loving it.

Watching

The 4th episode of WandaVision was quite exciting and confirmed a few of my theories. It was good to see what was going on in the “outside world” but I also hope there will be more mysteries to unravel as I don’t like everything to be explained too early on.

I’m at the end of season 3 of House M.D now. I was relieved when the Detective Tritter storyline ended.

I also watched another episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks and saw Moana with my daughter for the millionth time-can’t complain, though.

Listening to

I really love this song. It’s so catchy and I love the symbolism of the phoenix.

Quote of the Week

“For the survivor who chooses to testify, it is clear: his duty is to bear witness for the dead and for the living. He has no right to deprive future generations of a past that belongs to our collective memory. To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time.”

from Night, the memoir of Elie Wiesel (Holocaust survivor)
