This is your news post, so personalize it! Include as much as you want or as little. Be creative, it can be a vlog or just a showcase of your goodies. Link up once a week or once a month, you decide. Book haul can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books..share them!

The Latest in my Life

It’s been a pretty good couple of weeks. Working from home resumed on Monday and I’ve been looking into ways I can support my students with their reading and spelling while the school is closed.

My daughter and I continued our craft experiments and a few days ago we made this spring centrepiece.

Image description: our spring centrepiece made from a cereal box layered with green tissue paper, with flowers made from painted egg boxes and green pipe cleaners and colourful garden bugs.

I made a delicious spaghetti bolognese (even if I do say so myself), my daughter painted a cute piggy bank and we baked some more cupcakes.

On the Blog

We’re up to letter V in the Blogging from A-Z challenge now. I only have two more posts to write and schedule! It’s been enjoyable but also pretty tiring and time-consuming, so I’m looking forward to having more time to spend on other projects.

You can catch up with my “A-Z of Family Fun at Home” here.

What I’m Writing

I joined in with April’s WEP flash fiction challenge with my piece “Gramma’s Vase” and also wrote a short piece called “Forgotten” for Words for Wednesday. I spent quite a bit of time researching characters for my WiP too.

Book Talk

I took part in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon this weekend and it was great fun! I read for about 12 hours and got through 530 pages. I’m now back on track with my Goodreads goal. Check out my TBR post or see my Twitter updates here.

Entertainment

I’m on series 3 of Friends now and still enjoying The Mandalorian. I’m currently watching Captain Marvel for the second time as I write this.

Last weekend, I watched The Phantom of the Opera on YouTube (only available for 24 hours), which was really good. I missed the sequel this weekend, though as I was too busy reading and blogging.

Over to You

How was your week? Have you done anything creative lately? What have you been watching and reading?

  1. I liked Capt. Marvel. And your crafts look great! I think it really helps in these virus days to have things like to keep us sane haha!

Hope you have a great week!

    • Thanks, Greg. I’m definitely using arts and crafts to distract myself from reality! I’m very lucky to have so many things to keep me entertained at home.

    • Oh dear, Molly! We are watching it on DVD, we got them all fairly cheaply from eBay. I’d seen some of them before but never watched them properly from start to finish. My husband knows them off by heart, though. I hope you can find them to watch somewhere.

  2. I love your spring centerpiece! We’ve just been doing learning at home for more than a month now, and won’t be back in classrooms til fall. Ugh – Luckily my kids were on track to start with, because I don’t think I’m teaching them much from the learning plans. Stay safe!

    • Thanks, Becki! It’s so hard for parents right now. I think we have to try not to put ourselves under too much pressure to homeschool them because they’ll learn so much from joining in with normal family activities anyway, and this opportunity to be together for so long is probably never going to happen again. My daughter is due to start primary school in September so we have been playing maths and phonics games with her to bridge the gap but we’ve mainly just been playing and making things.
