The Latest in my Life

Happy Easter everyone! I know that this year has been quite different and strange, but I hope you managed to celebrate in some way if Easter is important to you. I’m writing my Sunday Post on a Monday because time has lost all meaning to me.

We had a chocolate egg hunt in the garden on Saturday and it was so sunny that they all started to melt! Then we had an indoor hunt yesterday with a trail of clues which led to my daughter’s Easter presents (mostly books and colouring sets). We also played hoopla with inflatable bunny ears.

My daughter painted her own boiled egg and I turned mine into an entry for my school’s “hard-boiled history” competition. Can you guess the identity of this 18th century writer, philosopher and women’s rights advocate?

This week I’ve been a bit under the weather (just regular cold symptoms) so I mostly stayed indoors working on creative projects. I helped my daughter make Easter cards for friends and family and we also had a go at painting some stones with acrylic markers. It was my first attempt but I was really pleased with the results. I also found the process suprisingly relaxing.

I then turned an old stepping stone from the garden into a new sign for our house. I’ve had to block out the rest of the house name for our privacy but hopefully you get the idea.

I had some more video chats with family and it was especially nice to “see” my Grandad via video for the first time. I did the Virtual Pub Quiz again on Thursday and my score seems to be improving.

On the Blog

If you’re a regular visitor you may have noticed that things look a little different around here. I decided to redesign my blog the other day and I’m really happy with it. I bought stock images by Bigmouse108 and ma_rish and combined and customised them in Photoshop to make a new header, divider, sidebar headings and featured images, then turned the background light blue. Hopefully, it looks much more bright and interesting.

We’re up to letter K in the Blogging from A-Z challenge now. I need to get cracking on writing some more posts as I’ve now lost the lead I had. You can catch up with my “A-Z of Family Fun at Home” here.

What I’m Writing

I didn’t get any writing done this week other than a very short poem for Words for Wednesday, a new prompt meme I’ve started joining in with.

Book Talk

I’ve been reading Heat Index by Deborah Kelly which is really interesting so far. But mostly I’ve been reading lots of childrens books to my daughter. We’ve read 48 since lockdown began!

Entertainment

I’ve been binge watching Friends and am on series 2 at the moment. I still have to catch up with The Mandalorian. I also watched the first half of the new Red Dwarf special, The Promised Land, which was really funny. It’s great to see the original crew back together.

On Saturday, I watched Jesus Christ Superstar Live Arena Tour on Youtube (only available for 48 hours). It was the version with Tim Minchin as Judas and Mel C as Mary Magdalene. I really enjoyed the modern interpretation. Of course, I now have all the songs stuck in my head on repeat, but I’m not complaining.
