This week in my life

It’s been ages since I last did one of these, so I thought it was about time we had a catch-up. Life lately has been super busy. My day job is getting increasingly demanding and leaving me with very little energy in the evenings. This time of year is always busy for me socially too, so I barely seem to have any time to catch up with blogging and writing. Last week I had to get up at 5:30 am to try to get things done and I still found myself way behind. I have lots of projects going on that all seem to be due on April 1st and March is just flying by already!

There just never seems to be enough time. Does anyone remember that children’s TV show ‘Bernard’s Watch’ from the ’90s? For those that don’t, Bernard had a magic stop watch that he could use to pause time and allow him to get up to all sorts of mischief. I would KILL for one of those right now. Just to put work and all my other responsibilities on hold for a while so I could catch up with writing, blogging, reading, book reviewing and (most importantly) sleep. I know I’m not alone in feeling rushed and stressed. It’s just life, isn’t it? But I’m hoping things will ease up a bit soon.

This week on the blog

My blog turned 10 on Wednesday! I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for a whole decade. I feel ancient! But I’m proud of myself and incredibly thankful for all the support I’ve had from the blogging community all these years.

Wednesday was also IWSG day, you can check out my post for that here.

I’ve been working hard to promote Masquerade: Oddly Suited, which is coming out on April 30th-not long to go now! I’ve had fun organising the blog tour which starts on 18th March, designing graphics and planning other activities with my wonderful fellow authors. I still have a couple of guest posts to write, but things are starting to come together.

Coming up next week

I’ve got no firm schedule in place, but if I catch up with my more pressing tasks, I hope to bring you some book reviews.

Writing update

I finished my final edits for ‘Sea of Sorrows’ and returned them to the publisher earlier in the week. I’m now working on a 600 word teaser related to the story, for our Masquerade Ball Blog Hop (details to follow!)

I’ve had an idea for another short story contest that I’ve been thinking about for a few days and I would really like to enter, but the deadline is March 30th. I don’t know how I will get it written and edited by then, unless some kind of miracle occurs. *Sigh*

Meanwhile, my poor novel has been neglected. I am still thinking about it often-when I’m in the shower, when I’m lying in bed, when I’m travelling. I just haven’t had time to work on it properly for weeks now, and that makes me feel sad and frustrated. But I have got to take care of myself and hit all my other deadlines, so for now it has to wait.

What I’m reading

I recently read My Sister and I by Sean-Paul Thomas, which was really chilling and disturbing. I’m now about half way through Cryptofauna by Patrick Canning, which is very funny and surreal. Progress is slow because I’m reading for about 20 minutes a night before I pass out, but it’s better than nothing, I guess?

Latest goodies

I downloaded a few eBooks recently even though, at this rate, it will be the year 2059 before I get around to reading them.

Before you go…

How was your week? How do you manage your time and stay sane when you have lots going on?

  1. I would definitely love a way to stop time. My problem is I might not turn it back on lol?

Congrats on 10 years! Wow that’s awesome 🙂

  2. Ahhhh sounds like you’re having a rough week, Tizzy! I hope things will die down for you soon and you manage to catch up with everything needed to be done. And I agree with time passing by so quickly – before we know it’s going to be 2029. Happy 10 years of blogging!
