The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. This is your news post, so personalize it! Include as much as you want or as little. Be creative, it can be a vlog or just a showcase of your goodies. Link up once a week or once a month, you decide. Book haul can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books..share them!

This week in my life

In my Insecure Writer’s Support Group post earlier this week, I talked about how I was having a bit of a writing and blogging slump. Luckily, I seem to be feeling a bit better now, probably because my daughter is sleeping through again so I’ve had a proper rest! My motivation to write and blog has definitely improved so I’m hoping to slowly increase the frequency of my posts and get back into the swing of things. Thanks to everyone reading this for being patient and continuing to support my blog.

During my blogging hiatus, I spent some time with family and indulged in a few reality TV shows, which I don’t normally have time for. I’ve been enjoying The Great British Bake Off, The Apprentice and Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls, in particular. We also had our kitchen redecorated and I’m so happy with the result. We’re just waiting for new flooring now, then it will be completely transformed.

This week on the blog

It was a quiet week on the blog as I started to find my feet again, but I’m just pleased I managed to post at all, to be honest.

Coming up next week

Here is a very tentative schedule for next week:

  • Monday- On my Wishlist
  • Tuesday-TTT: Longest Books I’ve Ever Read
  • Wednesday-Q&A with Professional Photographer Marina Art
  • Thursday-Thursday Aesthetic (on Twitter @tizzypotts)
  • Friday-Book Blogger Hop: A Future Without Books
  • Sunday-The Sunday Post

Plus maybe a book review if I have time!

Writing update

I’m taking a break from my novel at the moment to work on a short story for a competition on the theme ‘Masquerade’, which is a nice change. I think I’ll come back to my novel in November for NaNoWriMo, which always gets me inspired. I’m continuing to work on the planning and character development.

What I’m reading

There are a couple of books that I started reading but left them for a while because I wasn’t in the mood, I plan to come back to them soon. Right now I’m reading Killing Katie by Brian Spangler. I’m finding it a little unbelievable so far but it’s interesting.

Latest goodies

I recently picked up the Sons of the Sand series by Kimberly Loth, which looks right up my street.

  1. I feel like so many of us are apologizing for the time we take off from blogging! But it’s all about balance right? Glad you are feeling back in the swing of things.

    • It’s true, and I suppose we shouldn’t apologise really when blogging is a hobby. I’m just in the habit of saying sorry for everything. And yes, it’s definitely about balance, something I do struggle with as I’m kind of an ‘all or nothing’ person. I have to remind myself to do a little bit of everything rather than try to focus on one thing obsessively.

    • I think slumps are pretty common and I try not to worry about them too much as I know they’ll pass. But reading feels so much a part of my identity that it is disconcerting.

  2. Yay for getting back into the balance of things and blogging once again. I’m glad writing is working out for you. Sometimes its nice to indulge in series with you like on television and taking a bit of a reading break. I have to admit that I watched a lot of movies in September and I don’t usually watch many movies! So it was a different change 😀

    • Thanks, Olivia. I always have a slump this time of year as it’s a busy time for me with all the admin at work (I work in a school). I’m not normally a big watcher of TV but there are lots of series on that I’m following at the moment such as GBBO and The Apprentice, I find Autumn has great TV and then after Christmas there is nothing to watch. I agree with you that sometimes you just need to treat yourself to a reading break.
