My Favourite Book Blogs
Badge for Top Ten Tuesday meme

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week there is a new topic or theme to base your top ten list on. You can find more details about it and see the list of topics here.

What makes me love a book blog?

This topic was quite hard because I follow so many amazing book blogs and I like them all for different reasons. One of the things I love about blogging is how friendly the bookish community is. Over the years, I’ve met so many kind and supportive people with creative, inspiring blogs.

There are a lot of factors involved, but the main reasons that make me love a blog are:

  • Balanced and informative book reviews in the main genres I read (YA sci-fi, fantasy and dystopian)
  • A unique voice/style (funny, snarky, philosophical, etc.)
  • Interesting discussion topics
  • Fun, original takes on memes
  • Friendly comment replies
  • A cute layout which is easy to navigate

My favourite book blogs

Choosing just ten favourites was really tough, but I eventually narrowed it down to the list below. So here are my fave book blogs, in no particular order:

The Literary Phoenix

Amber is someone I could see myself being friends with-we have similar geeky and bookish interests and I love everything about her blog! She always has something interesting to say and I love how she breaks down her reviews by the different criteria. She’s a great fiction writer herself and she also has the best gifs ever!

AJ’s blog is like none other. I love her quirky layout and the original twist she puts on her meme and discussion posts. I return her blog again and again because I always learn something and she makes me laugh too-a perfect combination.

Anna doesn’t often review the genres I read but she’s one of the kindest bloggers I’ve come across and I mainly visit her blog for the updates about her gorgeous cats! She runs a few fun events for bloggers, such as Blog Ahead and blog hop giveaways.

Cee’s posts are always interesting and thought-provoking, I especially love her ‘Nerd Church’ series. She’s always honest and tells it like it is! Her posts often promote diversity and she’s encouraged me to be more open-minded and try books and fan fiction than I might not have considered.

Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them

I have loads in common with Jemma so I can really relate to her posts. I love her creative bookstagram pics. She usually reviews all the books on my wishlist and I really value her opinion. Plus, you’ve got to appreciate all the Harry Potter references!

I discovered Maddie’s blog when I was paired with her for the July comment challenge and she’s already become a favourite. Like me, she juggles blogging with parenting and her posts are always so fun and down-to-earth. I adore her colourful layout too.

Olivia’s Catastophe

I found Olivia’s blog through the June comment challenge and I was so impressed. She has such a wide range of hobbies from yoga to nail art and I have no idea how she manages to balance all her activities with blogging and studying. I find her really inspirational! Her booktube videos are great and we have similar tastes in fiction. She’s wise beyond her years and always makes me think about things in a different way.

Avalinah’s Books

I consider Avalinah to be a blog guru-she has so much knowledge about the technical and promotional aspects of blogging. If I need to know something (like how to gain followers from Pinterest, for example), I head over to Avalinah’s Books to find the answer. She also offers really deep and thought-provoking critiques of what I call challenging books-those that have something important to say about society and culture.

Kristen is a blogger I really look up to. She’s not afraid to talk about difficult topics and is often open about her own life. She has similar reading preferences to me and I always trust her detailed, balanced reviews. I often visit her blog for diverse book recommendations-she’s compiled lots of handy guides and lists!

Cornerfolds

I’ve been following Cornerfolds for ages-about four years. I love reading the varied opinions of Tracy and Chelcie (and previous contributors like MC). I like how they always have a good mix of content-reviews, discussion posts, memes and personal updates. The layout is so cute and they also sell amazing candles!

Before you go…

I’m sorry I couldn’t mention every one of the awesome blogs I follow, but I love you all! What are your favourite book blogs? Let me know in the comments!
