This week in my life
I was back to work this week and I found really hard to adjust to the early mornings and the lack of time with my family again. Things didn’t go great at work, I had a lot to plan at home and several late nights, so I spent most of the week feeling stressed, rushed and exhausted.
This weekend has cheered me up as I had some much-needed downtime and spent a lot of time reading and playing puzzles with my two-year-old. We had a lovely day out at a garden centre today. I still feel like I haven’t caught up with all my lost sleep though, so I need to get lots of early nights this week (which I hate as I’m a night owl). Still, the summer holidays are creeping closer and closer and that makes me feel better.
This week on the blog
Well, I’ve fallen a little behind with replying to comments again, but please know that I’ve read them all and will respond when I can. I am pleased that I managed to write two book reviews this weekend, which is virtually unheard of.

What I’m reading
Just finished Ready Player One this morning and I loved it! You can check out my review here. I think I will be starting Carve the Mark next. I’ve also just signed up for a free trial of Audible as I thought I could cram more reading into ‘unproductive times’, like when I’m doing my makeup or eating breakfast.

This ebook was free and I don’t know much about it but it looks good:

How was your week? What are you reading?
I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Carve the Mark! I’m hoping to start that one soon too.

I’ve only read the first few chapters so far but it’s already very exciting.
Sorry you had a rough week. I hope this week is better. Enjoy your audiobooks!
Thanks! I am loving Children of Blood and Bone so far.
I’m a night owl too, but I know it’s better to go to bed at a decent time and get up with the kiddos. So hard to do sometimes though, especially when I’m really into a book. I hope you get better sleep this week!
Yep, usually reading is to blame! I know it’s sensible to go to bed earlier but I’m not very good at it. I need to discipline myself more and set an alarm or something.
I picked up an oldie for a re-read, after bailing on the last novel. So I’m re-reading Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie, and it is such a joy. Like coming home. Her writing style is so easy to read I don’t have to “try” to pick up my nook, where the book resides now. I’m reading it because my husband read it and thought he found a flaw in the murderer’s motive. As a long-time Christie fan, I know that there are usually tiny hints early on that are easy to miss on the first read. So I picked it up to look for those.
Also, I’m starting a regular Sunday post. It’s not linked to a blog hop, but stop by any Sunday to see what’s been going on!
I haven’t read any Agatha Christie for ages but I’d like to. I enjoy all the TV adaptations. Glad you’re starting a regular Sunday post, I will check it out.
Anytime there is a change to my schedule I have difficulty adjusting. I hope this week is easier for you!
Thanks, Kimberly. It has been better this week 🙂
Oh man. It’s hard to get back in the swing of things. I always feel like I need a buffer week between vacation/time off and going back. Hope this week is going smoother for ya.
Yeah, I always take a while to adjust. I don’t help myself by going to bed so late in the holidays, but it’s hard to resist extra reading time! This week has been better, thanks.
Oh no, sorry you’ve been stressed and having work problems :-/ I feel you, I hate going to sleep early too because I’m also a night owl. I hope things have been getting a little less stressful at least since you posted this!
Yeah, it’s been a bit better this week, thanks. I just need to manage my time a bit better at home so I’m getting enough rest, then any issues will be easier to deal with. I’m my own worst enemy sometimes.
