Monthly Wrap-Up: April 2018

Posted May 6, 2018 in Blog Fests & Hops, Blog Updates / 11 Comments

It’s starting to feel like summer here in the UK. It’s bank holiday weekend, the sun is shining and the funfair has come to my local town. I’ve been enjoying plenty of ice lollies and barbecue food. I hope you’re having a great weekend too.

Now it’s time to look back at what I achieved in April. It was a really busy month for me socially. I attended a cocktail masterclass, went on holiday to Centerparcs, was a bridesmaid at my Dad’s wedding and celebrated my Grandma’s 80th birthday with a surprise party. I’m surprised I managed to find any time for blogging at all!

Blogging

The highlight of April was, of course, the Blogging from A-Z Challenge. My theme was Alice in Wonderland. You can see the complete list of posts here and be sure to check out my reflections post too.

Total Blog posts: 32. You can read all my April posts here.

Blogfests/events: A-Z Challenge, Insecure Writers Support Group.

Books completed: 0. I had hardly any time for reading last month, which made me a bit sad. I’ve nearly finished reading Sever and The INFJ Writer though, so you can expect the reviews soon.

Books reviewed: Strange the Dreamer

Comments: 202. I was really happy that so many of you engaged with my posts last week.

New followers: +3 on Bloglovin‘, +38 on Twitter, +2 on WordPress, +2 on Feedly, +1 on Facebook.

Thank you all for joining me, I really appreciate it!

Thank you message with hearts

Creative Hobbies

No new artwork, baking or poetry last month. But I have been practising my hand lettering. Below are pictures of the place name cards I made for my Dad’s wedding. I’m still very much a novice at this, so I know they’re not perfect.

Tv & Film

Films watched: I watched The Avengers: Age of Ultron again in preparation for Infinity War

TV shows:  I’ve been following The Island with Bear Grylls on Channel 4 (UK). It’s quite interesting seeing how all the participants have been interacting and the animosity between the high-earning group and the lower-earning group. I wouldn’t survive long on that island as I don’t eat meat and I don’t think I could exist on just coconuts. I’ve also been watching Britain’s Got Talent.

Quote of the Month

Alice in Wonderland quote: Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast

  1. Wow, it sounds like you’ve been busy. I did the A to Z challenge last year. It was fun, but it was so much work! I’d love to do it again if I can come up with a theme. Good luck with your May goals!

    • I’ve done it for years and I always have a blast, but normally I am much more organised and have my posts done in advance. This time it did seem harder. I think next year I’ll pick a more minimal theme like haikus or a picture with a caption.

  2. Hand lettering just takes practice. 🙂 I adore typography and find it very relaxing – I think you’re off to a great start! The place cards look lovely.

That Lewis Carrol quote is one of my favorites. <3

    • Thanks, Amber. I need to take more time to work on it, I think it would be a great hobby to get into as I could use it to improve my blog graphics as well as my artwork.

  3. Oh a holiday weekend is always nice. Summer is arriving here as well. A Popsicle sound real good right now actually. Hmm. Hope you’ve been enjoying May! And gotten to read a little this week 🙂
