Today I’m taking part in a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. Although the meme is weekly, I only take part once a month as I don’t buy new books that regularly (you should see my huge TBR pile).
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing any new books you are adding to your shelves, whether physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!
If you’d like to take part, simply visit the launch page for all the details, write your post and then submit your link to Tynga’s latest post.
My New Books
Fiction
- Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth– This was a Christmas present that I was very excited to get my hands on as I’m a big fan of Veronica Roth.
- Beyond the Sea by Melissa Bailey-This was also a Christmas present. I hadn’t heard of it before but the synopsis sounds intriguing.
Harry Potter Companions
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Illustrated Edition) by J K Rowling– Another Christmas gift, I wanted this as soon as it was advertised because of the beautiful illustrations!
- Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic by The British Library-Yet another Christmas gift that will keep me very busy!
Non-Fiction
- The INFJ Writer by Lauren Sapala-I bought this at the end of December after seeing a recommendation on another blog. Being an INFJ myself, I thought it might be interesting to look at writing styles and habits that were specifically linked to my personality. I think there will be much to learn from it.
- Creative Writing Journal by Eva Glettner-This was gifted to me by my husband a couple of weeks ago. He saw that I’m getting creative again and wanted to encourage me. It’s full of very strange and ‘out there’ writing prompts that really force you to think outside the box!
- The Universe Next Door by New Scientist-I bought this for myself last week when I spotted it in The Works. I thought it might be a useful reference for writing my WiP, which is a science-fiction novel.
E-Books
None this month. Probably just as well, since I have a huge backlog of books on my Kindle.
Before you go…
Have you read any of these titles? What new books have you added to your shelves lately? Feel free to share the link to your Stacking the Shelves post in the comments and I will be sure to visit you!
Oooh, The INFJ Writer! What a neat idea! I’ll have to check this one out!

Are you INFJ too? I am big on MBTI right now and actually using it to help me develop my characters.
Nice blog.
BEYOND THE SEA looks good.
Hope you have a good weekend, and thanks for coming by my blog.
Yes, I wasn’t sure if it would be my thing based on the cover, but the synopsis sounds good. Hope you have a great weekend too.
Such beautiful books! I really hope that you enjoy them. 🙂 I love the look of the J.K Rowling ones!
Thanks Chrissi, yes I can’t wait to get my teeth into those. I love adding new Potter books to my collection.
I love that illustrated edition of Fantastic Beasts! That is seriously gorgeous and I’m sure it looks lovely on the shelf. 😀 Happy reading!
Have a lovely weekend. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
It really is beautiful, the photo doesn’t do it justice.
I want both of those Harry Potter books. I hope you love all your new books!
Thanks, AJ!
I haven’t read any of your new books, Tizzy, but I’m a Veronica Roth fan, too, so I’ll be on the lookout for your review 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
I’ll hopefully be reviewing it within the next couple of weeks. Can’t wait to read it. Hope you have a great week too.
I want to get A History of Magic.
Have a great week!
It’s definitely worth getting, packed full of info. You too!
Carve by Veronica Roth looks good! Hope you enjoy your books!
Thanks, Jamie, I’m sure I will. I have high hopes for Carve the Mark.
I have never read nor seen anything Harry Potter…Not even interested in it. I know thats sad right. Oh well, enjoy your new books!
Mary
You are a rare breed, but not sad at all. We don’t all have to like the same things! I grew up with it, so it has a lot of sentimental value for me.
Ooh that illustrated Fantastic Beasts book looks so pretty! And I’m also an INFJ, maybe I should get that book. It does seem like it’d be helpful!
The pictures inside are stunning. When I write my review I’ll post lots of pretty pics. Yay, INFJs unite (separately, in our own homes)! Seems like a lot of writers and bloggers are INFJ.
The Harry Potter companion pieces look great. And the creative writing journal looks like a fun one to dabble in. Enjoy and happy reading.
Yes, I think it will be a good book for just picking up as and when I have a few spare minutes in the day, like on my lunch break. Have a great week!
I really would like to get the Fantastical Beasts book eventually. I have been collecting the Harry Potter illustrated editions. Hope you enjoy all of your books!
Thanks, Barb. Fantastic Beasts is a great companion to Harry Potter, there are some little clues to various things from the books, such as how Crookshanks knew there was something strange about Scabbers.
I love that there’s so may HP companion books around, so many ways to get deeper in to the story. ♥ Enjoy all the new goodies!
Becky @ Stories & Sweeties
Yes, I’m glad that HP hasn’t properly ended because there is still so much mythology and backstory to explore and of course lots of fanfiction to keep us going. Thanks for visiting, Becky.
Just love Roth’s cover. Hope you enjoy your new reads!
Me too, it looks so dark and mysterious. Thanks for visiting.
Great looking books Tizzy! Thanks for sharing them and I hope you enjoy them all.
Thanks, Barb. I’m sure I will. Just wish I had more time to read these days!
