Photograph of a woman writing with the text WiP WednesdayWelcome to WiP Wednesday (short for Work in Progress Wednesday), a new weekly blog meme. Every Wednesday, I’ll be sharing details of a project I’m working on, whether it’s creative writing, art, web design or home decorating. I’ll ask for advice if I’m having any difficulties too. I’d love for you to join in with me!

My WiP

Type of project: Creative writing

Working title: Shattered Hearts (The Mirror Universe #1)

Description: I’m working on the first draft of a new adult sci-fi retelling of Alice in Wonderland (sort of Alice meets Star Wars).

Start date: 8th January 2018

Goal completion date: 1st June 2018 (for the first draft)

Progress: Still in the planning stages. So far, I’ve written about 4,000 words of plot outline and character backstories. I’ve drawn a map of my main setting and started to fill in my character charts.

Stumbling blocks: I’m a bit stuck on what my villain’s motivation is right now (apart from her just being crazy).

What’s next? I need to do some research into the science behind wormholes and space travel. Then I’ll begin writing the first draft, which is the fun part.

Here is the map I made of my main setting. It’s not meant to be artistic, just a draft to give me an idea of where things are while I’m writing.

If you want to take part, simply make a blog post about any project you are working on right now. It could be writing, art & craft, home decorating, design work…anything you like! You don’t have to use the same format I have, but if you’d like to, here’s a code that includes the meme button for you to copy and paste into your text editor.

Don’t forget to link back to this post! Then come back here and post your link in the comments and I will visit your blog. I really look forward to seeing what you’re all up to!
