#atozchallenge G is for Gifts

Posted April 8, 2016 in A-Z Challenge / 0 Comments

Today is the seventh day of the 2016 A-Z Blogging Challenge! The aim is to write a post for every day of the month except for Sundays, with each post representing a different letter of the alphabet. This year, since I’ve just become a mum for the first time, my theme is: ‘an A-Z of Newborn Care’. I’ll be talking about all the highs and lows of parenting, sharing things that have been useful for me and posting some cute pictures.
For the letter ‘G’ I have chosen to talk about Gifts. We received a lot of lovely gifts when my little one was born, so I thought I’d share some of my favourite gift ideas to help anyone who is looking for a ‘new baby’ present.

Gifts for Baby

1) A soft play book, such as the Lamaze Peek-a-Boo Forest soft book.
2) A soft fleece blanket like this one by First Steps.
3) An easy-to-grip rattle such as the Oball.
4) Vulli ‘Sophie the Giraffe’ gift bag, containing a giraffe teething toy, a flower-shaped rattle and a teething ring.
5) An activity spiral that easily attaches to a pram, car seat or cot rails, like this one from Hengsong.
6) A baby sleeping bag such as the Grobag.
7) A developmental toy made of different fabrics and textures, with hanging rings, rattles or mirrors attached. LamazeFisher Price and Baby Einstein do some good ones. Check out my post on baby activities for more toy ideas.
8) A set of baby toiletries such as the Johnsons Baby Skincare Essentials box.

9) Clothing such as vests, onesies, dresses, dungarees, leggings, T shirts, cardigans, hats, mittens and booties. Go for outfits that have poppers at the bottom for easy changing and get them in size 3-6 months or larger so the baby can grow into them. Visit my post on baby clothes for ideas for where to buy.

10) A cuddly toy that doubles up as a night light or plays music, such as the Fisher Price Soothe and Glow Seahorse or Ewan the Dream Sheep.

Gifts for Mum

1) A pampering gift set to allow mum to relax and unwind, such as the N-spa Mum-to-be gift set. New makeup or perfume are good choices too, as they can boost a new mum’s confidence.
2) A baby book for recording the special moments and memories, such as the Winnie the Pooh Baby Record Book.
3) A button-down maternity nightdress such as this one by Happy Mama, which is really great for breastfeeding.
4) A helpful guide book, such as First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins.
5) A nursing pillow, such as the Cuddles Collection Twinkle Star Nursing Pillow.
6) A baby wrap or sling such as the Baby Snug Wrap.

Gifts for Dad

1) A fun and instructional book such as Commando Dad by Neil Sinclair.
2) ‘Superdad’ T-shirt so he can show off his new Dad status with pride.

Can you think of any more gift ideas for mum, dad and baby?
