To celebrate Christmas this year I have decided to do a post on each of the twelve days of Christmas (25th Dec-5th Jan) to celebrate all of the gifts (both physical and metaphorical) that I have recieved this year and take stock of what I have achieved during 2011.
On the second day of Christmas 2011 gave to me…a holiday in Devon.
Yep, my partner and I spent a lovely week in the Devon countryside in early August, just after my birthday and during our 4 year anniversary of getting together. Although it rained a lot of the time and our tent got flooded, we had a terrific time. The highlight was going to visit my partner’s Grandma at her caravan site and spending an afternoon on the private beach. We swam in the sea and the water was so clear we could see little shoals of fish darting about. It rained everywhere else that day except on that beach, which had it’s own little micro-climate. It was gloriously hot and we lay on the sand and sunbathed. It might not sound like a dream holiday but believe me this is a novelty in England! We also spent a fun day at a waterpark, visited a lot of lovely villages, spent all my birthday money in Plymouth and lived off barbecues and fish and chips. Heaven!
